What is a Story Map?

A story map defines a users journey in regards to using a product or system from awareness through usage and completion. Basically it tracks the end to end journey and visualizes it in a really straightforward manner.

Now it's worth noting that these can be confused with user journey maps, process maps or process blueprints, but the differences in these can either be realyl subtle or really obvious, so don't stress to much about how you name these artifacts. The important thing is that you can extract value and use from these maps.
