ServiceNow Design System

ServiceNow is one of the 2 biggest Customer Service Management programs in the world - just behind Salesforce (though that's more a Customer Relationship Management program) and it's important you're aware of the ServiceNow Design System and how it's best used. Here we have the core set of screen designs which showcase 3 main layouts of ServiceNow. We have a landing page, form page and list page, 3 of the most used templates you will be required to use if designing anything for ServiceNow. Luckily these user interface screens are really well designed and well structured so won't slowdown your computer like other big Design Systems cough  Salesforce cough.

Not only do you have access to this ServiceNow core templates Figma file but can also access a huge range of additional layouts, components, variables, icons and illustrations by going to the main Figma Community ServiceNow page.

Now we're not 100% sure why they chose to seperate out all of these items, instead of containing in a single huge Figma template, though we're assuming it's to keep the file sizes small, so as not to slow down your computer and bloat out each file with components you really don't need.

Now how do you actually use this ServiceNow Design System template? It's easy: if you need to create a landing page simply copy and paste this landing page design into a new Figma file and then start editing directly. Also don't be shy in detaching components if you need to customise more completely. Just be sure to create new components in the new Figma file and have them clearly labelled. 

If you wish to paste in addtional official ServiceNow components or ServiceNow icons and illustrations, you can copy these files into your own Figma folder and then add a link to these assets using the 'manage libraries' option in Figma. It's all a bit fiddly but you'll need to learn how to link up Figma templates at some point, so why not now!
